Decarbonizing the Transportation Industry By Using Renewable Technology

Learn about the transportation efficiencies that have been implemented in Lewis County using renewable energy sources including electric and hydrogen fueled buses.

Over the past five years Joe has transformed the Lewis County Transit (formally Twin Transit) system to become one of the leading transportation systems in Washington through service improvements in the rural areas of the county as well as the Centralia - Chehalis area and the implementation of alternative energy sources. Prior to arriving at Lewis County Transit Joe was the Deputy Director in charge of transportation funding and appropriations at the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and spent over 15 years as a consultant for school districts and transportation systems. Joe also served as a Chehalis Public Schools Board member for over 20 years. 

Registration is not required.

Browsers is so pleased to welcome Anna Zivarts on Tuesday, June 11th at 6:00 PM. Ziverts will be in conversation with Veronica Jarvis about her new book, When Driving Is Not an Option: Steering Away from Car Dependency (Island Press). The event will be held downstairs at the bookshop.

In her book, Anna shines a light on the frustrating, dangerous, sometimes deadly situations involuntary nondrivers face every day and outlines steps to center the voices of nondrivers and make transportation more inclusive. Read more about event

Anna Zivarts

​​​​​​Anna Letitia Zivarts is a low-vision mom and nondriver who was born with the neurological condition nystagmus. Since launching the Disability Mobility Initiative at Disability Rights Washington in 2020, Zivarts has worked to bring the voices of nondrivers to the planning and policy-making tables through organizing, research and policy campaigns led by nondrivers. 

​​​​​​Veronica Jarvis is currently a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Planner at Thurston Regional Planning Council in Olympia, Washington.
